CRATE TRAINING 101
Watch video here
✅ Do start crate training when you’re home.
✅ Do make it positive! The crate is not a punishment!
✅ Do feed your puppy in the crate.
❌ Don’t crate your puppy for the first time when you’re leaving the house.
❌ Don’t act sad or annoyed when you crate your puppy.
❌ Don’t reward noise by letting your puppy out of the crate.
Introducing crate training this way will help prevent separation issues down the road. Starting while you’re home allows you give your puppy feedback about what behaviors you do and don’t like while crated AND gives you a break from the constant supervision that puppies need for successful house training.
Crate your puppy a few times a week while you’re home to prevent the crate from becoming a cue that you’re about to leave.

Starting to use recall to manage distractions! A recall isn’t as simple as just saying “come” and your dog does it. An overall calm state of mind and attentive attitude is important to maintain in order to create a dog that’s thoughtful and looking to you for guidance. This video shows you how to use a basic obedience skill to keep your dog relaxed and attentive and can be applied to anything that they find distracting.
