Transferring an APKC Registration FAQ

Q: I just acquired an APKC registered Pomsky. How do I transfer the ownership to my name?

Answer: You can transfer ownership via mail by completing the back of the dog’s ORIGINAL of their registration certificate.

Here is what needs to be completed:

Section A

  • Date of Transfer: The date you took physical possession of the dog.

  • Name of New Owner: Name, contact information, and mailing address information.

  • Signature of Former Owner: The former owner’s signature.

  • Signature of New Owner: Your signature.

You will then need to mail the completed form to our Arizona address for processing. Be sure to include a $10 transfer fee (check or money order – payable to APKC). After we receive your information we will print a new original certificate and mail it to you.

Q: I just lost my Pomsky’s APKC certificate that I obtained from the previous owner and I did not transfer the ownership into my name. How do I obtain another certificate?

Answer: If you lost your Pomsky’s certificate and it was not yet transferred into your name, the Pomsky’s recorded owner will need to to request a replacement certificate here and send the replacement certificate to us with the back completed and $10 transfer fee (check or money order – payable to APKC).

If they do not have the dog’s name and registration number please provide us with the following in its place:

  • Dog’s microchip ID number

  • Names and registration numbers of the sire and dam, and breed

  • Date of birth of the litter

  • Recorded owner’s name and address

When the required information is received a new certificate will be mailed to the recorded owner. They will then need to complete the transfer to you on the back of the certificate.

Please remember a duplicate certificate can only be requested by the current owner on APKC record.

Q: I just obtained a APKC registered Pomsky but do not have any documentation for it.

Answer: If you did not receive any paperwork with your Pomsky when you adopted it, please reach out to the person you purchased or adopted your dog from. The dog’s recorded owner should have its registration certificate. If the original registration certificate is lost, the recorded owner can request a replacement certificate here. Send the replacement certificate to us with the back completed and $10 transfer fee (check or money order – payable to APKC).
